Years ago, I read a story about a guy who started a new job and determined that he would make sure that his coworkers would know that he was a Christian. For the next several weeks, he showed up early, stayed late. He would finish projects before the deadline. He kept his desk clutter free and organized. He responded to stressful situations with optimism and resolve. He was courteous, professional, and helpful. He knew that others were watching so day after day he lived this way believing that they would see Christ in him.

Have you ever read something in the Bible and it felt weird or didn’t make sense, so you just pretended that part wasn’t there? Maybe it was Elisha and the bears in 2 Kings 2, or Ehud in Judges 3 … there are lots of passages in the Bible that are bizarre and unexpected! For me, it was the book of Romans. I always felt like the apostle Paul was being a bit bossy for my liking, so I avoided reading it.

I love Assessments. Tools such as Myer-Briggs Type Indicator, DISC, Enneagram, etc. can be extremely helpful in understanding why we do what we do, but it’s easy to cross the line from self-assessment to assessing others. We can convince ourselves we look pretty good when we compare our best to the short comings of others. In reality, if the goal is perfection, we all fall short.

Ever miss something…in that you just didn’t notice something? Years ago, I had to catch a shuttle bus in Denver from the rental car agency to the airport. Across from me sat a man who was engulfed in the sports section of the newspaper…raised up almost hiding his face, reading every line of it! As he turned the page, I noticed the headline piece was about the Colorado Avalanche (Hockey) and how they had just won a big game! It was a two-pager article, and he was into every word of it…Coloradans love their sports!

In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus tells us that those who seek will find and those who ask will receive. We can have confidence that God answers prayer.

I was one of those kids that literally was raised in the church. I was a “good” kid and never really strayed from the church. Honestly, I was in church at negative 9 months old, if you know what I mean. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 9 years old and was baptized. I went to church and I was good because, well, that is what you are supposed to do…you are supposed be good!
