Ongoing Activities

Silver Sneakers

Silver Sneakers is a health and fitness program designed for adults 65+ that’s included with many Medicare Plans. This is a fitness class that combines a variety of exercises to help increase cardio endurance while strengthening muscle. The workout can be lead as an interval or circuit, or as a ½ and ½ class (half cardio, half strength).

Racquetball

Racquetball courts are to be used for racquetball or Wally ball only unless a specific request has been approved by the Community Life Ministry Staff. All players must check in at the front desk prior to play to pick up the key. Members age 16 and older may reserve racquetball courts. Children age 13- 15 may play racquetball or Wally ball if supervised by an adult the entire time. Players may reserve courts for a one-hour period by calling the CLC beginning on Monday of the desired week (Monday through Friday).

After the Bell

After The Bell (ATB) provides quality, affordable after school care for children in K5 - 8th grade. Our schedule is Monday-Friday, after school until 6:00 p.m. at the Community Life Center (CLC). Buses pick up children from Vestavia East, West, and Dolly Ridge Elementary schools as well as Pizitz Middle School and bring them to the CLC for play, snack, Bible time, and homework.

Playdaze

We offer one-day camps to ensure school holidays are fun! Kids can come for programmed, theme related activities from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with early drop-off at 7:00 a.m. and late pick-up until 6:00 p.m. at no additional charge. Activities include science experiments, Bible lessons, art projects, and lots of play!

KidsKamp

Summer should be a wonderful time for kids. KidsKamp is a ministry of the Community Life Center of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. We spend our summer together playing games, studying the Bible, and learning how to be more like Jesus. Between our awesome game room, our big screen TV for weekly camp videos, and our gym stocked with every kind of toy imaginable - we know your kids will love it here!

Walking Track

The track may be used for exercise purposes by those aged 16 and older. The wall side (outside) of the track is for jogging. The rail side (inside) of the track is for walking. Children ages 13-15 may use the track if supervised by a parent or guardian the entire time and the purpose is exercise. 18 laps = 1 mile. Hand lap counters are available for checkout at the front desk.

Open Gym

Monday nights the gym is open for individuals to come and participate in pickup games. Registration by contacting Reggie at rhatcher@shades.org.

Round Table

Monday nights in the Community Life Center are a great time for fellowship, discipleship, and basketball. Come join us at 6 pm for dinner and Bible study, followed by open gym time. For more information, email Reggie at rhatcher@shades.org.
