Serving in: East Asia
Steven and Kay Taylor were commissioned in 2008 by Shades Mountain Baptist Church as Long-Term workers in Japan. Steven was born and mostly raised in Birmingham, and became a believer as a sophomore in college. After Bible college and seminary, he served as a pastor for 13 years. Kay was born in South Korea, and became a Christian in elementary school. Steven & Kay lead the SonRise Tokyo Ministry team, work as church planters, and do community evangelism through SonRise Cafe.
How Can I Get Involved?
Prayer
- For wisdom in how to share the gospel with the largest unreached metroplex in the world (Tokyo, pop. 36 million). And in our ministry of preaching, teaching, worship, and leading SonRise Church.
- For recovery and rebuilding from the pandemic, which has greatly affected outreach in Japan.
- For our short and medium -term internships to draw young people with a desire to serve Christ in Japan.

Serving in: Sub Saharan Africa
We live in a large neighborhood predominantly occupied by our target unreached people group. The neighborhood is only about 2 miles wide and so all of life mainly happens here. Our houses, the school, grocery, coffee shops are all within 10 minutes walk from each other. It is our desire to have a closely knit team that will serve, pray, worship, grow, and laugh together...needing each other as we are working among a tough people group.
We engage our people group by inviting them into Kingdom community, sharing our lives, and speaking the gospel.
Our team's vision is to change the world by initiating CPM among our people group while cultivating its expansion into the Horn of Africa and the global diaspora. By this, we desire for churches to spontaneously reproduce throughout the entire region, and then cross cultural boundaries to other UPGs and around the world. Our team is simply a catalyst towards this end, as there are currently no mature churches to create such a movement.

How Can I Get Involved?
Prayer
- Historically our main entry point with people has been the English language school that our team runs and works at. Recently we have started some new ministries through a café and women's gym. Please pray for these ministries to expand our reach. Pray for specific opportunities for connection and conversation. Our team is mostly within their first or second term on the field and focusing greatly on language learning. There have been many disruptions in the past year due to COVID-19. Please pray for retention and perseverance in language learning and cultural acquisition.
- We are praying for 15 teams to reach 15 cities by 2025- that's one team for every million people without the gospel.
- More teammates. To accomplish our vision of 15 teams, we are expecting God to bring 50 new units. Therefore we need both, pioneer team players and pioneer team leaders, especially those who think God can use them to start a new team in a new unengaged area.

I have been working in South Asia for the past couple of years. My focus is the M language people groups which combined represent over 30 million people. Only 0.2% of them are followers of Jesus. All of these people groups are considered unreached and 15 of them are unengaged with the Gospel. Please pray that many more of the M language peoples will repent and believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord!
How Can I Get Involved?
Prayer
- That people would be safe, wise and prudent as the virus is still affecting many lives here.
- That our team can gather more information on the 15 unengaged, unreached people groups, specifically their population, where they live and if there are any believers among them. We know of some believers among some of these 15 people groups. Please pray that these believers will consistently take the Gospel to others in their people group.
- That many among the people whom I have shared with will repent and believe. Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism have a stronghold in many people’s lives. We often share John 14:6 with people here when we share the Gospel. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would open people’s eyes and that their hearts would be pierced with God’s truth and love.

Our family focuses on supporting and encouraging both college students and families with special needs. Preston serves as an architecture professor at a local Taiwanese University, leadership in our church's college ministry and 7th-12th grade Sunday School teacher. Janelle serves as the English Sunday School director, Director of AWANA and a 1st-6th grade Sunday School teacher. Preston and Janelle continue to support a local Taiwanese Christian organization through site planning and construction work of a camp for children who are at risk or have special needs.
How Can I Get Involved?
Prayer
- Preston serves his architecture students at Feng Chia University through excellence in holistic architecture training, not only focusing on building design but through exploration of truth and service. Pray for Preston and his students as he shares gospel truths with them.
- The AWANA club is new at our church this year. (Our church's club will be bilingual, Chinese and English, and also encourage children with special needs to be involved.) Please pray for wisdom for Janelle as she leads the club, for all our AWANA leaders and for the 30 students who will be engaged in worship, Bible study and fellowship each week. Please also pray for opportunities for us to share with their parents.
- Pray for wisdom for Janelle as she serves as the English Sunday School Director, choosing curriculum and overseeing classes from preschool to 12th grade. During Covid, we have taught our classes online and have seen a great response of participants outside of our church.
- Pray for Preston as he serves with the college group at the church, that he will be able to effectively and strategically mentor the students.
- We are blessed with many amazing relationships with Taiwanese friends, particularly with teachers at the special education schools where our children have attended. Please pray we will nurture these friendships well and also continue to be able to have more friendships with Taiwanese. These friendships are a wonderful opportunity to bear Gospel light in our community.
- Please pray for the resources for our ongoing language learning.

D&L’s work is to use a sports business approach to mission, discovering and developing opportunities to legitimately enter into difficult places. We help coordinate the development and implementation of sport strategy among front-line workers, which usually includes camps, clinics, tournaments, academies in several sport disciplines. Our team also organizes coaches trainings, sport leadership consulting, team-building, and does life-guarding and CPR training.

I work at a Christian international school in Singapore as the middle and high school Bible teacher, chapel, and community service co-coordinator! Our students come from all over the world and have varying levels of knowledge about who God is. My goal is to share the Gospel with my students and disciple them to become people transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit into people who chase after Jesus in their daily lives!
How Can I Get Involved?
- The COVID situation in Singapore - for wisdom for our nation's leaders in how to handle it.
- Me and my co-coordinator as we plan our week of service for all of our MS/HS students in March - for opportunities to serve meaningfully and authentically in Singapore
- For the Holy Spirit to light a fire of revival at our school that would shine a light into our community in Singapore
