At Shades we believe that mentoring is a valuable tool to help women reach the goal of Christ – centered living.  Titus 2 compels women a few life stages ahead of younger women to leave the legacy of biblical womanhood to the next generation.  FLOURISH is a devotional style 12-month journey that combines being rooted in the Word of God and learning from a woman farther ahead in her walk with Jesus.

FLOURISH calls women to a higher standard of living following the commands in Titus 2:3-5:  a God-filled life for the sake of the Gospel!  One where we wholeheartedly love and follow Jesus and aim to view our lives and circumstances through the lens of Scripture: the big story of God.  To become women who flourish, we benefit from the wisdom and encouragement of those who have gone before us and reflect Jesus.  We believe a mentoring relationship between women can be rich soil for such growth.

Mentoring FAQ

It is suggested to meet at least twice monthly for the purpose of developing relationship and producing fruit. If that is not possible, we would recommend a minimum of once a month in person meetings with “digital” connections (text or email) more frequently.

In summary, your role is to do life with this young lady for a season of time. Be who you are, share what you know, let her see how you think, act, live, pray, and serve. Don’t take responsibility for “changing” her. Leave that to Jesus. Just show up and be you. The mentoring team will provide you with resources and encouragement but your ability to mentor is not based on your talents or gifts. Christ will equip you to do what He’s called you to do! (Phil. 4:13, John 15:5)

Just share “yourselves” because these young women are dear to us!!
“We were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. “ 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8

We have chosen a program that allows mentors and mentees to open Scripture together to keep the conversations God centered. But the selected verses you cover weekly in your quiet time are very limited. You are asked to have devotional time (approximately 15 minutes) in the Word 5 days a week and connect with your mentor by email or text between meetings.

The mentoring team will gather information from each participant and prayerfully consider connecting each mentor and mentee. We are already praying that the Holy Spirit will direct these pairings.
