Each person takes initiative to build intentional relationships with people in their workplaces or neighborhoods who are far from God so that they may share the Gospel with them.
6th Grade
One of our core values as a church is for every disciple to be growing in their walk with Jesus. This is fostered primarily through what we call DGroups. Sixth graders at Shades have the unique opportunity to experience this small group discipleship as they prepare to enter the student ministry. Groups are made up of peers who learn the basic principles of Christian living and how young men and women can walk with Jesus every day. They will also be introduced to accountability and its importance for disciples of Christ.

Students
DGroups is our most targeted outlet for small group discipleship. These groups of three-six students provide a chance for students to BE disciples who MAKE disciples, together. Our Dgroup goals are to enhance gospel dialogue, promote transparent friendships, and to practice seeking the lost.
DGroups meet on Sunday nights from 6:00 to 7:15 PM in someone’s home.

College
College DGroups aim to mirror adult DGroups, but with a few minor changes. Freshman groups begin in mid-October after Fall Retreat and are co-led by an upperclassmen and an adult. Sophomore, junior, and senior groups are led by adults and begin in September.

As a church, Shades exists to send transformed people to influence their world for Christ. We believe small groups offer a vital place where transformation happens. DGroups provide intentional structure for transformational discipleship where we engage in gospel dialogue, transparent friendships, and seeking the lost.
