Pastor Danny thanks the congregation for his anniversary recognition, discusses Easter at Shades, and reminds everyone of time change Sunday. Take a look!
Hello Church!
Hey, I just want to say THANK YOU for the gifts that you presented me a couple of weeks ago for my 24th anniversary here at Shades. The personalized AU jersey and the away-game football tickets are perfect — I am already making plans for fall weekends! Most of all, I want to thank everyone for the cards, emails, fist bumps, and other expressions of congratulations. It’s been a great 24 years for me here as your pastor, serving alongside some phenomenal people, and I am looking forward to continue serving you these next five months. What a blessing! Thank you!
Easter at Shades – it will be here before you know it. On that Sunday morning, we will have three services – 8:00. 9:30, and 11:00. We will not have Sunday School that day, but there will be Worship Care for preschoolers birth through kindergarten and Children’s Worship for 1st and 2nd graders at 9:30 and 11:00. Easter is always a well-attended Sunday at Shades, with lots of visitors and children. If you are interested in volunteering to help with Worship Care, reach out to Sarah Kent, our minister to preschool.
Easter is one of the best opportunities to bring friends and neighbors to church where they will experience a special time of worship and a clear message of God’s amazing love and sacrifice for us. So be intentional; extend an invitation; make an impact.
This Sunday morning during worship, Steve Foster, chair of the pastor search committee, will give the church family an update on how the search is going. After Steve’s update, a member of the pastor search prayer team will lead us in a special time of prayer. Church, this search committee is doing an outstanding job. I feel really good about their diligence and prayerful, methodical approach to things, and I am confident their work will help lead us to the next pastor for Shades by the summer. Please continue praying for them each day at 8:15 … a.m. or p.m. You’ll definitely want to be with us on Sunday or tune in to get the latest information and you can stay up to date by going to shades.org/search.
Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday! So to be sure to you get to church (or your computer) on time for worship. Remember to move your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night before you go to bed. Have a great week, enjoy this amazing weather, and I’ll see you Sunday—either in person or online!
