Hello Church!
This past Sunday was Senior Recognition for our graduating high school students … and what a great day. It was a special time where these young people were set apart, prayed over by their families, and sent out to the next chapter of their lives. For some it will be college and for others new jobs. Whatever is next for them, they are likely to face challenges from the world but they will have a strong foundation. For years, parents and teachers and many of you have poured into them, equipping them to walk in faith and influence their world for Christ! Let’s continue to pray for them — to stand strong, to lean on the Lord, and to live sent! If you want to see some great pictures from Sunday’s service, check out shades.org/news.
This Sunday is Discover Shades, our class for prospective members. It’s a great opportunity for anyone who has been visiting Shades to spend some time with staff and other church members and to learn about the history and mission of our church. We will meet in person in Dobbins 614 at 10:30. Lunch and childcare are provided. So, if you or someone you know is ready to ready to join or is interested in more information about Shades, plan to join us this Sunday. You can sign up at shades.org/discover.
Three weeks until Vacation Bible School … June 7th through the 11th! Thanks so much to those of you who responded to our plea and signed up to volunteer. Because of your willingness to serve, we are able to open up registration for all ages. Our ranks are filling up, but we still need about 45 more volunteers. Our goal is to be able to serve any child who has completed kindergarten through 6th grade who wants to come. And with your help, we won’t have to turn anyone away. VBS is truly a multi-generation event for Shades, with every generation— teenagers to senior adults — stepping up to invest in children and impact the kingdom! Will you be tired at the end of the day – yes! Will you find yourself humming catchy VBS praise songs – for sure! Will you crave CheezIts and lemonade more than usual – absolutely! Will you make an eternal difference – without a doubt! We need you, and you don’t want to miss a great week. Head over to shades.org/vbs to sign up to volunteer and if you have not yet registered your child for VBS, take a moment and get them registered!

Folks, this Sunday, I will finish up our sermon series on Pressure as look at the book of Numbers chapter 14. Whatever our circumstances, whatever we are going through, God is faithful to his promises, he is present and powerful, and we can trust him in all things.That is great news every day!
