Pastor Danny shares a lot in his weekly update to our church family: highlights from this past Sunday, our new sermon series, and an event you won't want to miss. Take a look!
Hello Church!
I hope you were able to be with us this past Sunday … worship was led by a talented group of 6th and 7th graders on the platform with praise music and prayer and in video reading from the Psalms, these young people made the morning special. It was a great reminder to me that age is not a requirement for authentic worship. We should all be encouraged by the hearts of the next generation!
This past Sunday, we got to hear from Steve Foster, head of the Pastor Search Committee, with a great update on how things are going. If you missed it, you can find it posted on the website at shades.org/search. As the process continues, please keep praying. First, pray for the 4 Ps: the Pastors (for me and for the next pastor); for the Process and our search committee; Personnel, that is our church staff; and for the People, our church family. Second, set an alarm or reminder to pray each day at 8:15. You chose a.m. or p.m., but with either choice you can make this a habit! And third, join us on Wednesday, March 3rd at 6:30 p.m. for an online prayer gathering dedicated to praying for the search for our next pastor. On the shades.org/search page you’ll be able to find a link to join in and be a part of this special time. Remember, our prayers are as important as any aspect of the process!
This Sunday, we will start a new sermon series called "Refocus." Over the next six weeks we will look in the book of Acts and see how the early church in the midst of persecution made intentional plans to refocus their lives in order to spread the good news of Jesus. We will also hear testimonies from members of the Shades family who similarly answered the call to “refocus” and live on mission. Throughout this sermon series we will be celebrating what it means to hear God’s call on a life, to answer that call, and to refocus on living with kingdom purpose.
Let me tell you of a great opportunity this Sunday afternoon that you do not want to miss. Through the creative technological magic of Shades and the participation of missionaries with boots on the ground around the world, we are offering the ONE World Tour from 3:00 to 6:00. You will be able to take a virtual trip to Denver, New York, London, and Mumbai! The tour lasts for an hour and 20 minutes and we have three hours of time slots to sign up. Once you register you will come here to the church and check in at the North Entrance. From there, you’ll head to the “terminal lounge” on the 5th floor of Dobbins to wait for your tour to depart for cities in North America and around the world. Space is limited, so you’ll want to head to the website shades.org/news now to reserve your spot and get more details.
I am excited about this Sunday and beginning the new sermon series “Refocus” and I look forward to seeing you Sunday either in person or online!
