Live Sent Today

At the start of training camp in 1961, Vince Lombardi walked into the locker room of the Green Bay Packers and said to his team what would become one of the most iconic quotes in sports history… “Gentlemen, this is a football.”

Vince Lombardi was a Hall of Fame football coach, an NFL executive and the head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960’s. He led the team to three straight and five total NFL Championships in a seven-year span. His namesake, The Vince Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the winner of The Super Bowl each year.

The iconic words spoken by him were all about getting back to fundamentals. It’s easy to lose sight of the fundamentals. It can happen in football, in business, in relationships, and even in church. The message from Pastor George this week from Ephesians 1 was a clear and simple reminder about the purpose and the value of the Body of Christ. In short, we were reminded, “This is the Church!” The church is critical to live the mission of God! How do you feel about the church? Each of us was created for a purpose. That purpose is to glorify God and help others find their way to Him. We cannot live the mission in our power. Under His authority and through His strength, we engage in “body life” to carry out the mission. The church is not perfect because it is made up of imperfect people, but it is still the means for helping the world to know Him.

Over the next two weeks, people are more open to attending church services than any other time in the year! This week, would you lean into an opportunity, into a conversation, into a relationship, and invite someone to church? You may never know this side of heaven what God will do with that simple invitation! Ask them to join you and when they show up simply say, “Friend, this is church!”.
