We have another exciting weekend coming! More Sunday School classes are returning, we'll celebrate baptism and more activities continue to resume each week! Take a look at today's weekly update.
Hello Church Family!
This Sunday, the 25th, is ManChurch … and it will be live in the Worship Center! Our own Rick Burgess will challenge our men to better understand and execute the assignment God has given you to disciple others and provide spiritual leadership in your family. Men, you don’t want to miss this time of teaching and worship. Bring a friend and we’ll see you at 6:00 Sunday evening in the Worship Center. If you can’t be there in person, we will miss you, but you can watch online; just go to shades.org/live. For more information about ManChurch or the small groups and bible studies available, check out shades.org/menofshades.
Church, at any given time, 33 men serve as deacons here at Shades. Each year, 11 rotate off and 11 more are invited to serve for three years. During their tenure, deacons provide a very important layer of leadership, guidance, and service to the people of Shades. We want your help to identify Godly men who would make strong deacons and consider serving Shades in this sacrificial way. Think about men you know who are mature in their walk with the Lord, who are involved in the ministries of our church, and who are faithful in their support. Any nominations need to be submitted by end of day Wednesday, November 4th. You can mail your submissions to the church office, drop them in the offering baskets on Sunday, or email them to Jan Buchanan at jbuchanan@shades.org.
“Come Before Winter”… for many of you, you hear that phrase and know immediately that I’m referring to the now well-known sermon delivered regularly by Dr. Charles Carter, our Pastor Emeritus. You’ll be excited to hear that Dr. Carter will deliver that sermon in-person here at Shades on Sunday, November 29 during morning worship. If you’ve heard it before, your Bible likely opens right up to 2 Timothy and has lots of notes in the margins. If you’ve not heard it, you are in for a treat. At 84 years young, Dr. Carter is still a powerful preacher and is definitely in his lane delivering this message to believers, entreating them to action. So mark your calendar now for November 29th; you’ll definitely want to be here!
So, folks, it’s going to be another great Sunday of fellowship and worship this week. More Sunday School classes are meeting on campus, more of you are joining us each Sunday, and more activities are resuming. This is so encouraging! All around us though, people are searching for an anchor in this uncertain time or some hope in this chaotic world. Let’s not miss those everyday opportunities we have to turn an encounter into a gospel conversation, reminding others that God is our anchor in every storm and He is a living hope for the whole world! I look forward to seeing you on Sunday—either in person or online!
