A Transformed Generation

Posted by Shades Staff

In his weekly update, Pastor Danny provides an update on Vacation Bible School, our summer and fall Sunday schedule, and recaps Student Camp. Take a look!

Hello Church!

As you can see, Vacation Bible School is underway, and we are having a blast! Hundreds of kids are here at Shades digging deep into God’s Word and learning about the truth of the Bible and the truth of the Gospel. What a week! The VBS verse is Jeremiah 29:13:

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.”

Just one of the many promises from God that we can count on. Keep praying for these children and their families—that their hearts would be open to the message of his grace, that they would seek the Lord with all their heart, and find him!

This past week our middle and high school students, were at camp in Ocoee, Tennessee. Chad and I had the fun opportunity to join them for a day and a night and hang out. Seeing these kids engaged in worship, studying the Word, learning what it means to surrender and be “shook” by a Christ-centered life—it made me hopeful and excited about how this transformed generation will influence their world for the Kingdom. Jeremy Horton and his team are doing such a great job teaching and encouraging our teenagers. Let’s keep praying for our student ministry as they lead this group to the next level!

If you’ve been here on Sunday mornings lately, you’ve noticed that more and more friends are back in worship each week. 95% of adult Sunday School classes have resumed meeting … in person … on campus! It feels good to see one another, to meet together, and to restart the healthy rhythms of corporate worship and Bible study. Now that many of us are back, we’ve had lots of questions about our Sunday schedule. You’ll remember that when we came back to worship in person last summer, we added a worship service so that we would have plenty of room to spread out and maintain the recommended social distance. At this point, while we don’t necessarily need to spread out as much, we are going to keep the Sunday morning schedule the same for the rest of the summer. Worship at 9:00 and 10:30, with adult Sunday School at both hours. As summer progresses and fall approaches, we will keep assessing the schedule for Sunday and keep you posted on any changes.

Again, remember to be praying for Vacation Bible School over these next couple of days. And then this Sunday will be another great day of worship at Shades and I look forward to seeing you … either in person or online!
