Hello Church,

Merry Christmas!  I hope that for all of you the frantic pace of the season is lessening and the joy of the season is growing.  We have so much to rejoice over as we celebrate the birth of the savior!

Don’t forget that this Sunday, December 27th and the next, January 3rd, worship is online only, with services at 9:00 and 10:30.  Pastor of Missional Living Tim Wheat and Minister of Discipleship and Equipping Bradley Patton will deliver challenging messages.  You’ll be able to find sermon notes online at shades.org/info.  So, for the next two Sundays, stay home.  Stay well.  Stay connected and enjoy a time of worship with your family online.

I know that lots of you are already thinking ahead to 2021 and setting some goals.  I would encourage one of those goals to be reading through the Bible.  For 2021, we are excited to offer a new updated chronological reading plan along with weekly commentary each Sunday.  Go to shades.org/readthebible to preview the new reading plan and to get access to other resources like online versions of different bible translations, relevant commentaries, and videos.  I can promise you that committing to reading through the Bible is a goal that will help all your other New Years’ resolutions fall right into place! I have been doing this the last few years and it has been such a blessing and I encourage you to join with me in 2021 in reading through the Bible.

Folks, more than ever, I appreciate the people of Shades who, in a really tough year have given generously, served faithfully, and supported one another sacrificially.  You have been good-natured and flexible as we’ve made plans and then changed plans; then made more plans and changed more plans! Your spirit through all of this has been wonderful.  Your church staff is grateful…and I am, too.  Again, I wish you a Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday…online!
